Tim Howard’s Everton came from behind to take all three points at St James’ Park on Wednesday, beating Newcastle 2-1. Newcastle opened the scoring in the second minute, holding that lead until Leighton Baines equalized in the 43rd. Victor Anichebe scored the winner in the 60th minute. Everton are 5th in the Premier League table, trailing 4th-place Chelsea by twopoints but on 21 games played to Chelsea’s 20.
“We had to do it the hard way again, unfortunately, but that has been the way it is,” Everton manager David Moyes said. “The result was right in the end.”
