Bedoya Scores, Premier League Table, Championship Ends

We start the National Team players abroad roundup with Alejandro Bedoya and Helsingborg's 1-0 shutout of Syrianska FC in the Allsvenskan. Bedoya scored the game's only goal in the 61st minute in front of 2,572 at the Sodertalje Fotbolllsarena. After seven games, Helsingborg are top of the table in Sweden, leading Malmo by a point.

In England's Premier League, Brad Guzan was in goal for Aston Villa's 2-1 win over Norwich at Carrow Road. Gabby Agbonlahor scored both of Villa's goals, with the club moving into 13th-place.

"It was a special day," Agbonlahor said. "To get the goals was a big thing but the main fact was getting the result as a team. It was a massive result for us. Everyone was happy afterwards. It was huge."

Clint Dempsey's Tottenham Hotspur shutout Southampton 1-0 at White Hart Lane. Gareth Bale scored in the 86th minute. Dempsey subbed out in the 72nd.

“Southampton made it difficult," Bale said. "There wasn’t a lot of space but I tried my luck on the right in the last 20 minutes and I was able to get some shots off. Luckily enough, one of them went in.”

On Sunday, Liverpool - Everton finished scoreless with Tim Howard in goal and Everton's would-be winner called back.

"We probably didn't create enough clear-cut chances to win the game, but we had one in the back of the net that we feel hard done by," Howard said. "We played well and feel good about that. Nil-nil at Anfield is always difficult to come by. We would have liked to get three points but that goes without saying."

A league down, the Championship season concluded over the weekend with Bolton finishing 7th, missing the playoffs on goal difference, after a 2-2 draw with Blackpool. Tim Ream subbed out in stoppage time. Cardiff City and Hull finished 1st and 2nd to win automatic promotion. Watford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Leicester enter the playoffs. Peterborough, Wolverhampton, and Bristol City are relegated.

In the Bundesliga, Jermaine Jones's Schalke 04 shutout 'Gladbach 1-0 on an 82nd minute Julian Draxler goal. The referee booked Jones in the 42nd minute. Fabian Johnson played the first-half in Hoffenheim's 2-2 draw with Weder Bremen at the Weserstadion. After giving up a goal two minutes in and trailing 2-0 at the half, Hoffenheim staged a late comeback with Sven Schipplock scoring in the 85th minute and equalizing in stoppage time.

Jozy Altidore's AZ shutout Zwolle 4-0. The referee booked Altidore in the 55th minute. AZ are 10th in the Eredivisie table. In the seemingly never ending saga of the Belgian playoffs, Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht shutout Standard Liege 2-0. Gillaume Gillet scored both goals. Anderlecht are top of the Pro League playoff table. Michael Bradley's Roma shutout Fiorentina 1-0 with a stoppage time goal from Pablo Osvaldo at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. In Spain's second division, Carlos Bocanegra's Racing Santander lost 2-1 to Almeria.

In Norway, Mix Diskerud played the first-half in Rosenborg's 2-2 draw with Aalesund. Denmark, and Clarence Goodson's Brondby finished 0-0 against Copenhagen. Charlie Davies was a stoppage time sub for Randers in their 1-0 shutout of Aarhus.

Mexico's Liga MX, and Jose Torres's Tigres shutout Club America 2-0. Danilinho opened the scoring in the 48th with Lucas Lobos doubling the lead in the 59th minute. Michael Orozco and DaMarcus Beasley's Puebla beat Queretaro 3-2. Puebla had a two goal lead when they gave up an own goal in the 73rd minute. Queretaro equalized two minutes later. Puebla converted an 80th minute penalty for the win. The referee booked Orozco in the 54th minute. Edgar Castillo started and Joe Corona subbed on in the 76th minute for Tijuana's 4-0 shutout of Chivas. Herculez Gomez subbed on in the 61st minute for Santos Laguna, losing 2-1 to Morelia. Carlos Quintero pulled a goal back for Santos in the 61st minute.
