United States National Team, USA soccer, us soccer players

The United States picked up a road win in Europe on Tuesday, beating Slovenia 3-2 at the Stozice Stadium in Ljubljana.  In cold and foggy conditions, the United States came out in a 442 with Jozy Altidore partnering with Edson Buddle.  Both players would end up on the score sheet before halftime.  Buddle opened the scoring in the 9th minute, with Slovenia equalizing in the 26th.  Clint Dempsey put the US back up, heading in a Michael Bradley service in the 41st minute.  Jozy Altidore made it 3-1 from the penalty spot two minutes later.  Slovenia would pull a goal back in the 62nd minute with Tim Matavz scoring his second goal of the game.  The game marked Carlos Bocanegra's 100th appearance for the United States.

"There was a special atmosphere today because it was our captain’s 100th game," US coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. "It’s a very, very special moment, and the team wanted to do well for him. Obviously we are pleased with the result, but also the performance.”
