USA 1 – Brazil 4

The United States lost 4-1 to Brazil on Wednesday night in front of 67,619 at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. Brazil opened with Neymar scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute. They made it 2-0 when Thiago Silva scored in the 26th. Herculez Gomez pulled a goal back for the United States just before halftime, but it was 3-1 when Marcelo scored in the 52nd. Alexandre Pato scored Brazil’s fourth goal in the 87th minute. The United States outshot Brazil 15 to 12, putting five of those on goal to Brazil’s seven. The US led eight to five on corner kicks.

In his post game comments, USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann talked about officiating decisions that he felt went against the United States and the need for a more physical style of play. The USA returns to action on Sunday against Canada in Toronto (7pm ET – NBC Sports).
