Goalkeeper Luis Robles signed with Major League Soccer earlier this week and on Wednesday learned that he will be a member of the New York Red Bulls. Robles had already trained with the club and there was obvious interest. Major League Soccer’s rules required that Robles enter the allocation draft as a returning National Team player. Robles has one cap with the senior squad from the 2009 Gold Cup. New York took Robles with the 10th pick in the allocation draft.
“Luis is a goalkeeper who we have been interested in for the past year and we are excited that he has joined our squad,” New York GM Erik Soler said. “We think that he has potential and we are eager to evaluate him in person on a daily basis at our club.”
