2013 Gold Cup: Belize 1 – USA 6

The United States got a strong first-half performance from Chris Wondolowski, recording a hat-trick as the US beat Belize 6-1 in Group C. Wondolowski opened the scoring in the 12th minute, doubling the lead in the 39th. Belize cut the US lead in half with Ian Gaynair scoring in the 42nd minute, but Wondolowski answered back almost immediately with his third goal. Second-half substitute Stuart Holden made it 4-1 in the 58th minute and Michael Orozco added another USA goal in the 73rd. Landon Donovan finished off the scoring from the penalty spot in the 77th minute. Donovan is now the first US player with 50 goals and 50 assists.

In the other Group C game, Costa Rica shutout Cuba 3-0 with goals from Michael Barrantes (52nd), Jairo Arrieta (71st), and Barrantes again in the 77th. The United States continues Group C play on Saturday against Cuba from Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (3:30pm ET – Fox Soccer).
