2013 Gold Cup: USA 5 – El Salvador 1

The United States never let up in an emphatic 5-1 win over El Salvador in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday. The US took the lead in front of a sellout crowd in the 21st minute when Clarence Goodson scored. Joe Corona made it 2-0 in the 29th, but El Salvador converted a penalty ten minutes later to send the game into the half 2-1 USA. 14 seconds after subbing on, Eddie Johnson made it 3-1 United States with a 61st minute goal. Landon Donovan added another in the 78th and Mix Diskerud added a fifth goal in the 84th minute. Donovan assisted on three goals.

Honduras won the late game on Sunday, beating Costa Rica 1-0. In Gold Cup quarterfinal action on Saturday, Panama advanced with a 6-1 win over Cuba and Mexico beat Trinidad & Tobago 1-0. The US plays Honduras at 7pm ET and Panama meets Mexico at 10pm ET on Wednesday, July 24th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
