Jose Torres and Herculez Gomez were in the starting lineup for Tigres on Wednesday night at Estadio Miguel Hidalgo. Tigres drew 1-1 with Pachuca in the 2014 Liga MX Apertura playoff quarterfinals. Gomez subbed out at halftime.
Joffre Guerron scored for Tigres in the 49th minute with that lead holding into stoppage time. Tigres gave up an own goal in the second minute of stoppage time to send the series into the second-leg tied. Tigres finished with only one shot on frame for the entire game from five taken. Pachuca put four of its shots on goal from 14 taken. The series concludes at Estadio Universitario de Nuevo Leon on Saturday.
Tigres last won the Apertura in 2011. They finished second to Club America in the 2014 Apertura regular season on a tiebreaker with the top three clubs tied on 31 points. Pachuca was 7th, six points behind the top three.
In the other Liga MX playoff quarterfinal first-leg on Wednesday, UNAM Pumas shutout Club America 1-0 at Estadio Olimpico Universitario.
