MLS conducted the expansion draft for Orlando City and NYCFC on Wednesday, with both clubs selecting ten players each. The existing MLS teams protected 11 players on their 2014 roster with Generation adidas, Homegrown, and Designated Players with a no-trade clause exempted from the expansion draft.
“We’re really pleased with the result of today,” Orlando City coach Adrian Heath said. “We’re very happy with the players that we’ve drafted, along with the players that we expect to be joining us shortly.”
“For the first time, we have a player for every position, which we are delighted with,” NYC FC coach Jason Kreis said. “We have some great talent across our roster and have brought in some terrific players today. We are hugely excited for March and to continue to build what we hope will be a winning squad.”
