Dempsey wins Golden Boot, Golden Glove for Guzan
USMNT player Clint Dempsey took the goal scoring award for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, winning the Golden Boot. USMNT goalkeeper Brad Guzan won the Golden Glove award as the tournament’s top goalkeeper.
Dempsey finished the tournament with seven goals, finishing a goal ahead of Mexico’s Andres Guardado. Dempsey’s seven goals ties for the second largest total in Gold Cup history. Mexico’s Luis Roberto Alves holds the Gold Cup record, scoring 11 goals in the 1993 tournament. Landon Donovan and Chris Wondolowski were part of a 3-way tie for the Golden Boot in 2013.
“My teammates have given good service and have put me in good positions to get good looks in front of the goal and I’ve been able to put them on target,” Dempsey said following his hat-trick against Cuba in the quarterfinals.
