Thursday’s soccer TV schedule is all about the MLS knockout round. The playoffs continue with the Eastern Conference on UniMas and the Western Conference on Fox Sports 1.
DC United vs Montreal Impact at 7:30pm on UniMas. There’s no English-language coverage in the US for the Eastern Conference knockout game. DC United is much improved and tough to beat at RFK Stadium. They’re coming off of an October with wins over Toronto at BMO Field and NYCFC at home and a regular season finale loss to Orlando City. Meanwhile, Montreal is trying to overcome the Didier Drogba controversy with their designated player opting not to play if he wasn’t starting. Montreal finished the regular season with a 3-0 loss at New England.
“We’re confident,” DC’s Rob Vincent said. “Obviously take today’s result out of it and we’re still in a good run of form. I think the boys are feeling confident that we can make a real push.”
Seattle Sounders vs Sporting KC at 10pm on Fox Sports 1. After turning their season around, Seattle slipped late and needed to work to make the postseason. A 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Decision Day did the job. Sporting KC also had work to do on the final day of the season, beating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at home.
“I think we have good form,” Sporting KC coach Peter Vermes said. “I thought we played really well in Salt Lake last week. I actually think the two games prior to that – outside of the New England game – when we were at home, we played well in those games, too. We realize we have a big hurdle in regards to Seattle. They are a good team. They made a lot of changes at the midway point that have changed their team. They have guys back from injury so they are feeling good about themselves. We are going in to the lion’s den and it’s going to be a difficult game. We will do everything we can to play our best game.”
