It's the opening weekend of the 2017 MLS season on the soccer TV schedule. Sunday has games on ESPN and Fox Sports 1. In the Premier League, NBCSN has Liverpool hosting Arsenal on Saturday.
Atlanta United vs Red Bulls on Fox Sports 1 on Sunday at 7:30pm. Atlanta makes their MLS debut with a lot of pressure on an expansion team with a marquee coach and several top level players. Gerardo Martino has the resume to suggest he has no interest in waiting to make Atlanta a force in the Eastern Conference. That starts against a team that's already played two games that count. The Red Bull are out of the CONCACAF Champions League after a loss at Vancouver on Thursday. They start MLS play on the road at Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta's temporary venue.
