MLS is on the weekend soccer TV schedule with NYCFC playing Seattle at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. This weekend is also the start of the Confederations Cup, giving the world an early look at what next summer's World Cup will look like in Russia.
NYCFC vs Seattle Sounders at 1pm on ESPN. NYCFC and Seattle both played in the US Open Cup Fourth Round this week. NYCFC had it easier from a travel perspective, heading across the river to New Jersey in a 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls. Seattle knocked out Portland on Tuesday and then had to travel cross-country for Saturday's game at Yankee Stadium.
“I look at the first half where they didn’t create much," NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira said following the loss to the Red Bulls. "I think we defended really well. We hit, twice, the post, so I think in the first half there is a positive aspect of the game that we have to take. In the second half, obviously, the tempo was highly on their side, and they gave us a lot of problems with the way they played small passes in the midfield. But I really think in the first half there are some positive things to take for us."
