Coverage of the 2017-18 Champions League group stage begins on Tuesday's soccer TV schedule. Group D opens with a meeting of two super clubs with Barcelona hosting Juventus. Manchester United is also in action.
Barcelona vs Juventus in Group D of the Champions League at 2:45pm on FS1. Group D isn't playing around with Barcelona, Juventus, Sporting, and Olympiacos. It might be tempting to pencil in the two super clubs as the obvious teams to advance, but one dominating the other could open the door for an upset.
Barcelona had a tough offseason with the Neymar saga, Lionel Messi's refusal to agree to a new deal, and difficulties in convincing other clubs to sell them the players they wanted. Juventus remains the dominate team in Serie A and a European force. Last season's 4-1 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid doesn't overshadow that Juventus was the second best team in the tournament.
Barcelona shutout Espanyol 5-0 at Camp Nou in La Liga with Messi scoring a hat-trick. Juventus also won at home, shutting out Chievo Verona 3-0 in Serie A.
