The USMNT players in Europe and Mexico returned to action over the weekend following the November international break. We start in the Premier League where DeAndre Yedlin and Newcastle United lost 4-1 at Manchester United. Yeldon assisted on Dwight Gayle's opener in the 14th minute. Manchester United equalized in the 37th and went ahead for good in first-half stoppage time.
Danny Williams subbed off at halftime for Huddersfield Town in the 4-0 loss at Bournemouth. A second yellow to Simon Francis in first-half stoppage time meant Bournemouth played the second-half a man down.
“I think - and I know it sounds crazy - but I think we’ve played one of our best first-half’s of this season," Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner said. "We created good chances, defended well and played on the front foot but found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time. Goals change games, we must blame ourselves as we didn’t use our opportunities. After the third goal it was even more difficult than before. The goals influence games and the first two goals were difficult to accept when we played so well in the first half."
A league down, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Sheffield United beat Burton Albion 3-1 away. Billy Sharp put United up from the penalty spot in the 10th minute. Burton equalized in the 31st. Carter-Vickers assisted on Sharp's second goal in the 34th. Lee Clarke scored in the 78th minute. Eric Lichaj and Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 at Birmingham City. Tim Ream and Fulham drew 1-1 at home with Derby County. Oliver Norwood put Fulham up in the 30th minute with Derby equalizing in the 50th.
Moving to the Bundesliga, John Brooks and Wolfsburg beat Freiburg 3-1 at home. Yannick Gerhardt put Wolfsburg up in the 3rd minute with Yunus Malli scoring in the 29th. Freiburg pulled a goal back in the 68th. Malli scored again in the 70th minute.
Fabian Johnson subbed out in the 74th minute for Gladbach in their 4-2 win at Hertha BSC. Lars Stindl put Gladbach up in the 5th minute with Thorgan Hazard scoring in the 14th. Raffael made it 3-0 in the 20th. Hertha pulled goals back in the 28th and 71st, but Raffael put the game away with a goal in the 77th minute. Weston McKennie's Schalke shutout Hamburg 2-0 at home. Franco Di Santo converted a penalty in the 17th minute and Guido Burgstaller scored in the 77th. Bobby Wood subbed on in the 69th minute.
In the 2.Bundesliga, Alfredo Morales was the goalscorer in Ingolstadt's 1-0 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf. Morales scored in the 45th minute. A league down, Joe Gyau and Ingolstadt shutout Erfurt 1-0 at home. Yannick Thermann converted a penalty in the 64th minute.
Matt Miazga's Vitesse Arnhem lost 4-2 at Groningen. An own-goal but Vitesse up in the 32nd. Groningen equalized from an own-goal in the 59th. Vitesse retook the lead when Tim Matavz converted a penalty in the 62nd. Groningen responded with three unanswered goals.
Perry Kitchen and Randers beat Lyngby 3-1 away. Joni Kauko put Randers up in the 29th with Bashkim Kadrii scoring in the 44th. Lyngby pulled a goal back in the 73rd. Saba Lobzhanidze scored for Randers five minutes into stoppage time. Rubio Rubin subbed on in the 87th minute for Stabaek's 1-1 home draw with Sogndal. Ola Brynhildsen scored in the 30th with Sogndal equalizing in the 56th minute.
In Liga MX, Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca drew 1-1 at Atlas. Trailing from the 45th minute, Gonzalez assisted on Robert Herrera's equalizer a minute into stoppage time. William Yarbrough was in goal for Leon's 2-0 home loss to Chivas. Jorge Villafana and Santos Laguna lost 1-0 at home to Club America.
