The NASL season concludes on Sunday when the SF Deltas host the NY Cosmos for the championship. The league’s courtroom battle to maintain their second division status is paramount to their future, but there’s still the 2017 champion to decide. There’s also plenty of World Cup qualifying options from CAF and UEFA on the weekend schedule along with the US Women in action.
SF Deltas vs NY Cosmos at 8pm on beIN Sport from Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Depending on an appeal of a court decision, this could be the swansong for the NASL as we know it. Facing that loss of second division status, the league’s future is in doubt. So is the SF Deltas’. Joining the league this season, there are growing rumors that even a championship may not mean they return. On the field, the SF Deltas finished 2nd in the regular season and advanced to the final with a 1-0 shutout of NCFC. The Cosmos finished 4th, knocking out the regular season champions Miami FC 6-5 on penalties after their semifinal ended scoreless.
