Weston McKennie subbed on in the 79th minute for Schalke in their 1-0 home win over Cologne. Maximilian Meyer scored the game's only goal in the 63rd minute with Ralf Fahrmann keeping the clean sheet.
Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt exited the cup with a 1-0 loss at Paderborn. John Brooks missed Wolfsburg's 2-0 win in extra time at Nurnberg. Felix Uduokhai scored in the 96th with Daniel Didavi doubling the lead in the 118th minute. Fabian Johnson wasn't involved in Gladbach's 1-0 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
Aron Johannsson subbed on in the 83rd minute for Werder Bremen's 3-2 home win over Caleb Stanko's Freiburg. Ishak Belfodil opened the scoring in the 3rd minute for Werder Bremen with Florian Kainz doubling the lead in the 20th. Nils Petersen converted a 28th minute penalty for Freiburg. Philipp Bargfrede made it 3-1 in the 69th. Yoric Ravet scored for Freiburg in the 86th minute.
Timmy Chandler wasn't in the squad for Eintracht's 2-1 win at Heidenheim. All the goals came in extra time with Mijat Gacinovic scoring for Eintracht in the 95th. Heidenheim equalized a minute later. Sebastian Haller scored Eintracht's winner in the 109th minute.
Christian Pulisic's Borussia Dortmund exited the DFB Pokal with a 2-1 loss at Bayern Munich. Trailing from goals in the 12th and 40th minutes, Andriy Yarmolenko scored for Dortmund in the 77th.
"I am pleased with our determination to get back into the game in the second half," Dortmund coach Peter Stoger said. "But you can not win Bundesliga games when you play the way we did in the first half, and certainly not cup games when you play away here at Bayern. Our passing game was poor, we failed to make any tackles, and we were lacking courage. We were simply happy that they hadn't scored more than two goals by the end of the first half."
In the Premier League, Emerson Hyndman was on the bench for Bournemouth's 2-1 loss at Chelsea. Trailing from the 13th minute, Dan Gosling equalized for Bournemouth in the 90th. Chelsea scored their winner a minute into stoppage time.
