The USMNT players in England and Mexico roundup starts with a massive result for Eric Lichaj and Nottingham Forest. Lichaj scored twice in Forest's 4-2 win over Arsenal to advance from the Third Round of the 2017-18 FA Cup. Lichaj opened the scoring in the 20th minute at The City Ground. Arsenal equalized in the 23rd. It was Lichaj again for Forest in the 44th with Ben Brereton converting a penalty in the 64th minute. Arsenal scored in the 79th. Forest went a man down with a red card to Joe Worrall in the 84th. Kieran Dowell converted a Forest penalty a minute later.
"We played a very good Forest team who were sharp and focused," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "The challenges were decisive. Overall our performance wasn't good enough…. When you're against a team like that they're very difficult to beat. Defensively you cannot afford the mistakes we made."
Lichaj wasn't the only USMNT player scoring in the FA Cup Third Round. Danny Williams had a goal in Huddersfield Town's 2-1 win at Bolton Wanderers. Rajiv van La Parra scored for Huddersfield in the 51st minute with Williams doubling the lead a minute later. Bolton scored in the 64th minute.
Emerson Hyndman's Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Wigan at home. Trailing from the 4th minute, Hyndman was credited with a 29th minute own-goal. Bournemouth's Lys Mousset cut the Wigan lead in half in the 55th with Steve Cook equalizing two minutes into stoppage time. Geoff Cameron subbed out in the 52nd minute for Stoke City in their 2-1 loss at Coventry City. Trailing from the 24th minute, Stoke's Charlie Adams converted a penalty in the 54th. Coventry won the game with a 68th minute goal. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes lost his job following the game.
Tim Ream's Fulham exited the FA Cup with a 1-0 home loss to Southampton. The goal came in the 29th minute. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Sheffield United knocked out Ipswich Town 1-0 away. Nathan Thomas scored in the 25th minute.
In Liga MX, William Yarbrough was in goal for Leon's 2-1 win at Atlas. Mauro Boselli put Leon up in the 19th minute with Andres Andrade assisting. Andrade doubled the lead in the 29th. Atlas pulled a goal back in the 45th. Michael Orozco's Tijuana finished scoreless at Cruz Azul.
Omar Gonzalez's Pachuca lost 3-2 at home to UNAM Pumas. Franco Jara put Pachuca up in the 35th with Keisuke Honda doubling the lead four minutes later. Tigres scored in first-half stoppage time, equalizing in the 53rd. They scored their winner in the 76th minute. Joe Corona's Club America shutout Queretaro 1-0 away. Henry Martin scored in the 44th minute with Agustin Marchesin keeping the clean sheet.
