The soccer news starts with a big goal for Weston McKennie, making the difference in Schalke's 1-0 win at Lokomotiv Moscow in Champions League Group D. McKennie scored in the 88th minute. Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann made one save to keep the clean sheet. McKennie saw yellow in the 52nd minute.
"Today was a dream come true for me, it was truly amazing," McKennie said. I don’t score a lot of goals but I’m so pleased I managed to get one today. We managed to control the game after half time and finally got our reward…. We are very happy and relieved. The schedule is so busy that we don’t have much time to think about tonight. We have to concentrate on the game against Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga now. We won as a team today."
Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel said, "I rarely single a player out, and I don’t like to either, but Weston was outstanding today. I’m extremely pleased for him that he scored the winner and gave the team their reward as well."
