“I think you could see from the lads on the pitch that there was a desire to get the points today,” Newcastle's Matt Ritchie said. “Yes, in the first half we probably rode our luck a little bit and they probably had the better of the chances, but certainly in the second half I thought we were strong – we were resilient. They had some good chances again on the counter attack, but I think once we got the goal we never really looked back. Erik Palmer-Brown's NAC Breda beat Heracles 2-1 away in the Eredivisie. Luka Ilic scored ror NAC in the 21st with Heracles equalizing in the 60th. Mitchell te Vrede scored for NAC in the 88th. Jonathan Bornstein's Maccabi Netanya beat Hapoel Ra-anana 2-1 away. After going a man down when Stav Finish saw red in the 53rd, Guy Melamed put Maccabi Netanya up in the 56th. Hapoel Ra'anana equalized in the 66th. Melamed converted a stoppage time penalty for the win.
