The soccer news starts with USMNT players in Europe and Mexico. The 2019 Liga MX Clausura opened with Omar Gonzalez's Atlas winning 2-1 at Queretaro. Falling behind in the 40th minute, Jesus Isijara equalized in the 42nd. Osvaldo Martinez scored in the 50th minute. Michael Orozco's Lobos BUAP shutout Santos Laguna 2-0 at home. Leonardo Ramos scored in the 57th minute with Yago Cesar equalizing in the 66th. Jose Antonio Rodriguez kept the clean sheet with three saves.
Moving to the Third Round of the 2018-19 FA Cup, Tim Ream's Fulham lost 2-1 at home to Oldham Athletic. Fulham's Denis Odoi scored in the 52nd minute. Oldham equalized from the penalty spot in the 76th with Callum Lang scoring in the 88th.
"If you lose but you give 100% of your personality, desire, everything, passion, I can accept that Oldham scored twice," Fulham manager Claudio Ranieiri said. "But we didn’t play with passion, that’s the problem. We’re disappointed. The first half was so boring for us, we didn’t play as we’re used to playing. The second half we improved a little. We scored a goal, we missed the chance to score a second time. And after we missed the chance from the penalty, Oldham won the match."
Eric Lichaj's Hull City lost 2-1 at Millwall. Jon Toral put Hull up in the 52nd minute. Millwall scored in the 82nd and 85th minutes. In League One, Lynden Gooch subbed out in the 66th minute for Sunderland's 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic. Luke O'Nien put Sunderland up in the 2nd minute with an own-goal leveling the score in the 50th.
In the French Cup, Matt Miazga's Nantes beat Chateauroux 4-1 at home. Kalifa Coulibaly scored for Nantes in the 6th with Chateauroux equalizing in the 13th. Rene Krhin put Nantes up for good in the 37th. Imran Louza doubled the lead in the 70th with Anthony Limbombe scoring their fourth goal in the 86th minute.
Keaton Parks subbed on in the 70th minute for Benfica B's 2-2 draw at Porto B. Jose Gomes scored for Benfica B in the 3rd with Porto B equalizing in the 22nd and going ahead in the 48th. Ivan Saponjic equalized two minutes into stoppage time. Shaq Moore's Atletico Levante drew 1-1 at Ebro in Spain's third division.
