The roundup of the USMNT players in Europe and Mexico starts with the opening weekend of the Premier League. Christian Pulisic subbed on in the 58th minute for Chelsea in their 4-0 loss at Manchester United. Chelsea fell behind to an 18th minute penalty with United adding goals in the 65th, 67th, and 81st minutes.
"Christian Pulisic is 20 years old. He will be a fantastic player for the club," Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said "He has got great ability. You saw little moments with his acceleration on the ball…. If the game had carried on at 1-0, or we were back in the game as we should have been, he would have been a great injection. In the end it was difficult for him because the game went quickly away from us."
A league down, Geoff Cameron's QPR drew 1-1 at home with Huddersfield Town. Karlan Grant converted a Huddersfield penalty in the 49th minute with Grant Hall equalizing for QPR in the 83rd. Eric Lichaj's Hull City beat Matt Miazga's Reading 2-1 at home. Jarrod Bowen scored for Hull in the 6th minute with Jackson Irvine doubling the lead in the 16th. Reading's Lucas Joao pulled a goal back in the 66th.
Tim Ream's Fulham shutout Blackburn 2-0 at Craven Cottage. Tom Cairney scored in the 34th with Aleksandar Mitrovic doubling the lead in the 81st. Antonee Robinson's Wigan lost 3-0 at PNE.
Lynden Gooch scored in Sunderland's 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town in League One. Falling behind in the 15th minute, Gooch equalized in the 64th. Matthew Olosunde's Rotherham United lost 2-0 at home to Lincoln City.
In the first round of the DFB Pokal, Fabian Johnson subbed on in the 62nd minute for Gladbach's 1-0 win at Sandhausen. Marcus Thuram scored the game's only goal in the 19th minute. Weston McKennie subbed on in the 57th minute for Schalke's 5-0 cup win at Drochtersen/Assel. Steven Skrzybski scored in the 44th with Guido Burgstaller adding a goal in the 61st. Daniel Caligiuri converted a penalty in the 65th with Munir Mercan scoring in the 73rd. Bergstaller finished off the goals in the 83rd minute.
Zack Steffen and Alfredo Morales went the distance in Dusseldorf's 3-1 extra time win at Villingen. Falling behind to a 42nd minute penalty, Nan Ampomah equalized in the 56th. Ampomah scored again in the 102nd and Rouwen Hennings finished off the Fortuna goals in the 116th minute. Julian Green subbed out in the 62nd minute for Furth in their 2-0 loss at Duisburg. Furth fell behind in the 4th minute giving up another goal in the 14th.
John Brooks's Wolfsburg knocked out Terrence Boyd's Hallescher 5-3 in extra time in the DFB Pokal on Monday. Felix Drinkuth put Hallescher up at home in the 43rd minute with Wolfsburg's Wout Weghorst equalizing a minute later. Yannick Gerhardt put Wolfsburg up in the 49th with Sebastian Mai equalizing in the 57th. William scored for Wolfsburg in the 70th with Josuha Guilavogui seeing red in the 90th minute. Mathias Fetsch equalized for Hallescher two minutes into stoppage time to send the game to extra time. Robin Knoche scored for Wolfsburg in the 92nd with Josip Brekalo scoring their fifth goal in the 94th minute.
Tim Weah subbed out in the 68th minute for Lille's 2-1 home win over Nantes in Ligue 1. Lille went up from a Victor Osimhen goal in the 19th with Nantes equalizing from a 51st minute own-goal. Osimhen scored again in the 80th minute. Weah saw yellow in the 65th. Luis Gil subbed out in the 85th minute for Viktoria Zizkov in their 2-0 home shutout of Viktovice. David Capek scored in the 63rd with David Brezina doubling the lead in the 81st minute. Aron Johannsson subbed out in the 63rd minute for Hammarby's 2-1 home win over Helsingborg in the Allsvenskan. Alexander Kacaniklic scored for Hammarby in the 22nd with Muamer Tankovic doubling the lead in the 38th. Helsingborg pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute.
Ventura Alvarado scored in Necaxa's 3-1 loss at Tigres in Liga MX. Trailing from an Andre-Pierre Gignac hat-trick with goals in the 5th, 17th, and 23rd minutes, Alvarado scored in the 43rd.
