USMNT 1 – Honduras 1

October 14, 2014 by US Soccer Players

In their second friendly during the October 2014 international window the USMNT looked strong early but gave up another late equalizer. Jozy Altidore scored in the 10th minute for the USMNT, who pressed the offense for most of the first half at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida.

USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann made three substitutions in the 64th minute and eventually used all six of his subs. That changed the scope of the team, with Honduras pressing the attack and eventually finding a reward. Maynor Figueroa equalized for Honduras in the 86th minute.

Klinsmann started Jermaine Jones as a central defender, putting several of his World Cup regulars back in the lineup following the 1-1 draw with Ecuador. Jones, Clint Dempsey, Graham Zusi, Matt Besler, and Michael Bradley rejoined the squad following the weekend’s MLS games. With his last substitution, Klinsmann brought on NASL player Miguel Ibarra.

The USMNT now waits for the November international window with a game against Ireland at Dublin’s Avaya Stadium set for Nov 18.
