Ireland 4 – USMNT 1

November 18, 2014 by US Soccer Players

The USMNT ended their 2014 calendar with a 4-1 loss to Ireland at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann made several changes to his squad following the 2-1 loss to Colombia in London on Friday. That included giving a debut to Stanford’s Jordan Morris as a 77th minute substitute. Bill Hamid got his second game in goal at full national team level. The USMNT regroups in January for the annual camp and the start of the 2015 schedule.

Anthony Pilkington scored for Ireland in the 7th minute. Mix Diskerud equalized for the USMNT in the 39th with Chris Wondolowski picking up the assist. That score held through halftime, with Klinsmann switching out Wondolowski for Bobby Wood. Ireland took the lead for good in the 55th minute when Robert Brady scored. James McClean made it 3-1 in the 82nd. It was Brady again for Ireland, scoring from a free kick in the 86th minute.
