The biography of USMNT player Cade Cowell, who plays his club soccer with Chivas in Liga MX.

Cade Cowell started his professional career as a San Jose homegrown player in 2019, moving into the first team the following season. He quickly emerged as a quality winger for the Earthquakes as he progressed through the USMNT youth system. Cowell played at U-16, U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels, debuting with the senior squad at the end of 2021. That same year he was named an MLS All-Star. Drawing attention outside of Major League Soccer, Cowell completed a move to Chivas in Liga MX in 2024.

Subbed on against Canada on Sep 7 and against New Zealand on Sep 11. Subbed on against Jamaica on Nov 18.

2023

Started against Serbia on Jan 26. Started against Mexico on April 20. Member of the 2023 Gold Cup squad, subbing on against Jamaica on Jun 25 and starting against St Kitts and Nevis on Jun 29. Subbed on and scored against Trinidad and Tobago on Jul 3. Subbed on against Canada in the quarterfinals and started against Panama in the semifinals.

2021

Subbed on against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Dec 19.

Professional Experience

2024-25

Played 13 games and scored five goals, finishing 9th with Chivas and exiting the playoffs in the play-in round. Played in ten games for Chivas, finishing 11th in the Clausura.

2024

Moved to Chivas for the 2024 Clausura season, playing in 18 games. Chivas finished 6th and advanced to the Liga MX semifinals.

2023

In his final season with the Earthquakes, Cowell played in 23 games. San Jose finished 9th and exited the playoffs in the wildcard round.

2022

Played in 31 games for San Jose and finished 14th.

2021

A regular with San Jose with 33 appearances and five goals finishing 10th.

2020

Played in 17 games for the Earthquakes, finishing sixth and exiting the playoffs in round one.

2019

Signed a Homegrown Player contract with San Jose, playing in the US Open Cup. Had four appearances with Reno 1868 in the USL Championship.

Youth and College

Cowell was a member of the Earthquakes academy.
