Gianluca Busio made a high profile move to newly-promoted Serie A club Venezia midway through the 2021 MLS season, highlighting his development as a player. Joining Sporting Kansas City’s academy in 2016 and becoming a Homegrown Player in 2017, Busio quickly moved up the ranks at a strong MLS team. For his country, Busio played at every age level before making his senior squad debut in 2021. Already a Concacaf Gold Cup winner, Busio is a key part of the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Started the season with Sporting KC before a move to Venezia in Serie A during the summer transfer window. Played his first game in Italy on Aug 27, eventually making 29 appearances and scoring a goal. Venezia relegated to Serie B finishing 20th.
2020
Scored two goals in 23 appearances with Sporting, winning the Western Conference and exiting the playoffs in the quarterfinals.
2019
Became a regular with Sporting, playing in 22 games and scoring three goals. Sporting missed the playoffs.
2018
In his first season as a pro, split time between Sporting KC playing 10 games and Swope Park Rangers playing 5. Won the West with Sporting, advancing to the semifinals.
