USMNT 1 – Venezuela 1

The USMNT and Venezuela met in an international friendly at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on Saturday. The game is a warmup for the USMNT, returning to World Cup qualifying on Thursday against Trinidad & Tobago at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado (7:50pm ET – FS1).

Venezuela went up in the 29th minute with a goal from Jose Velazquez. The USMNT equalized through Christian Pulisic in the 61st.

“Obviously, we had a slow start,” Pulisic told FS1 following the game. “We didn’t come out with the right intensity like we should’ve. But as the game went on I think we found a groove. We’re getting used to the altitude and things like that… getting accustomed to it. So we’re getting a lot stronger. We’re feeling much more confidant going into the next game…. I think the team really came together in that second-half and I think we’re going to be looking really good against Trinidad and Mexico.”
