USMNT calls in 30 players for January 2018 camp
USMNT interim coach Dave Sarachan called in 30 players for the January camp set to start this week in Carson, California. The players are mostly MLS with several looking to make their first appearance for the senior squad. US Soccer is in a transitional period waiting for the presidential election in February and the hiring of the next coach.
“We’re excited about our 2018 January Camp roster. It’s all about the future and opportunity,” Sarachan said. “We clearly feel that we want to have a look at these players that have the chance to be a part of the National Team for a number of years to come. It’s a long journey forward, but this is the first step starting in 2018 for the program and for these players to now get experience at this level.”
The January USMNT camp begins on January 10, running through the friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 28. That game is on FS1 at 9:30pm ET. As is normal with January camps, the entire schedule is outside of the FIFA window, limiting the availability of players for both teams.
JAN 10 UPDATE: Dom Dwyer withdrew from camp with injury and won’t be replaced on the roster.
