The USMNT shutout Guyana 4-0 in their 2019 Gold Cup group D opener in Saint Paul, with Tyler Boyd scoring twice and Zack Steffen keeping the clean sheet.

USMNT 4 – Guyana 0

The USMNT opened group D play at the 2019 Gold Cup with a 4-0 win over Guyana at Allianz Field in Saint Paul. Paul Arriola opened the scoring in the 28th minute with an assist from Weston McKennie. The US took the 1-0 lead into halftime. Tyler Boyd made it 2-0 USMNT in the 51st with Michael Bradley assisting. The USA’s third goal came when an Arriola ball into the box deflected off of a Guyana player and hit Gyasi Zardes in the face before the ball found the back of the net. Boyd scored his second goal of the game in the 81st minute. Zack Steffen made one save to keep the clean sheet. The USMNT plays Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday in their second game of the group.

In the other group D game, Panama shutout Trinidad and Tobago 2-0. Armando Cooper opened the scoring in the 53rd with Edgar Yoel Barcenas finishing off the scoring in the 68th. Panama goalkeeper Luis Mejia needed no saves to keep the clean sheet.
