The USMNT started the group stage at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup with Sam Vines scoring in a 1-0 shutout of Haiti in Kansas City.

The USMNT opened group B play at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup with a 1-0 shutout of Haiti at Children’s Mercy Stadium. Sam Vines scored the game’s only goal in the 8th minute, heading in a ball from Gyasi Zardes in front of the Haiti goal. The win has the USMNT in second-place in the group after the opening matchday. Canada shutout Martinique 4-1 in the early game to take the top spot on goal difference. The USMNT plays Martinique on July 15.
