Czech Republic 0 – USMNT 1

The USMNT returned to friendly play with a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in Prague. The USMNT was without most of its players from MLS, opting for a mix of young players and European veterans. Alejandro Bedoya scored the game’s only goal in the 39th minute, capitalizing from a Mix Diskerud chance. USMNT goalkeepers Brad Guzan and Nick Rimando shared the shutout, playing a half each.

With the Czech Republic preparing for the start of Euro 2016 qualifying against the Netherlands, they looked hesitant on attack. Increasing the pressure late, USMNT goalkeeper Nick Rimando came up big making several quality saves. Rimando played behind a new look USMNT defense, a result of Klinsmann’s substitution policy.

USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann used all six of his substitutes, giving Emerson Hyndman his international debut as an 18-year-old. Hyndman plays his club soccer for Fulham in England’s Championship. The USMNT returns to action on October 10 at Renstchler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut against Ecuador. That game will mark all-time USMNT leading scorer Landon Donovan’s final appearance with the National Team.
