Denmark 3 – USMNT 2

March 25, 2015 by US Soccer Players

Denmark beat the USMNT 3-2 in the wind and rain at NRGi Park in Aalborg on Wednesday. The USMNT had the lead twice, but couldn’t contain Niklas Bendtner who scored all three of Denmark’s goals. The USMNT return to action next Tuesday against Switzerland.

Jozy Altidore opened the scoring for the USMNT in the 19th minute, capitalizing on a Timmy Chandler long ball. Bendtner equalized in the 33rd minute knocking in a square ball in the six-yard box. Altidore connected with his strike partner Aron Johannsson to put the USMNT back in front in the 66th minute. It was Bendtner again for Denmark, equalizing in the 83rd. Bendtner won the game for Denmark with a volley a minute into stoppage time.

The USMNT had a good chance at a stoppage time equlizer with Michael Bradley finding John Brooks in the box. Brooks’s header went wide with the referee blowing for full time seconds later.
