USMNT 1 – Paraguay 0

The USMNT was back in action on Tuesday night in Cary, NC shutting out Paraguay 1-0. In a game that became increasingly physical as it progressed, the USMNT capitalized on a penalty call for the win. USMNT player Tyler Adams broke free in the 43rd, going 1v1 with the goalkeeper and drawing a penalty. Bobby Wood converted his attempt from the spot in the 45th. USMNT goalkeeper Zach Steffen stopped a Paraguay freekick to end the game.

“I think it was great for us from a mental standpoint,” USMNT captain Wil Trapp told FS1. “You put in ten days of work, you’re working together and you’re trying to work through some things… to come out here against a good team and win is very important for us.”

Marky Delgado, Andrija Novakovich and Tim Weah made their debuts for the USMNT, with Weah the first player with a 2000 birth year to play for the senior squad. The USMNT plays its next friendly on May 28 against Bolivia in Chester, PA. That game is scheduled for 6:30pm ET on FS1.
