The USMNT advanced to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup semifinals and a date with Qatar in Austin on Thursday after beating Jamaica 1-0.

Gold Cup: USMNT 1 – Jamaica 0

Matthew Hoppe made the difference for the USMNT, scoring in the 83rd minute of the 1-0 quarterfinal win over Jamaica at AT&T Stadium. In a game where both teams had chances, the goalkeepers came up big. Matt Turner for the USMNT and Andre Blake for Jamaica turned the game into who would deny the next solid opportunity. Eventually, it was Hoppe with an 83rd minute goal, subbing out almost immediately afterward. The USMNT advances to play Qatar in the semifinals on Thursday at 7:30pm in Austin.

Qatar knocked out El Salvador with a 3-2 win at University of Phoenix Stadium. Almoez Ali put Qatar up in the 2nd minute with Abdulaziz Hatem doubling the lead in the 8th. Ali converted a penalty in the 55th. El Salvador got two goals from Joaquin Rivas, scoring in the 63rd and 66th minutes.

On the other side of the bracket, Mexico shutout Honduras 3-0 at University of Phoenix Stadium. Rogelio Funes Mori scored in the 26th with Jonathan Dos Santos adding a goal in the 31st. Orbelin Pineda made it 3-0 Mexico in the 38th minute. Alfredo Talavera made two saves to keep the clean sheet for Mexico. They’ll play Canada who shutout Costa Rica 2-0 in the early game at AT&T Stadium. Junior Hoilett scored in the 18th with Stephen Eustaquio making it 2-0 in the 68th.
