26 players named to September 2022 USMNT roster
USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter named 26 players to his roster for the September international window, the last before the start of the 2022 World Cup. The USMNT is playing two friendlies in Europe against non-European teams, Japan in Dusseldorf on September 23 and Saudi Arabia in Murcia, Spain on the 27.
“As we approach the World Cup, this is another opportunity for us to take a step forward as a group,” Berhalter said. in the press statement announcing the roster “We have a strong roster and can use these games as a measuring stick against World Cup opponents as we continue to gain valuable experience ahead of going to Qatar.”
UPDATE: 9/16: Johnny Cardoso replaces Yunus Musah due to injury. 9/18: Mark McKenzie and Erik Palmer-Brown replace Cameron Carter-Vickers and Chris Richards due to injuries.
