Honduras 0 – USMNT 1, USA advances to Nations League final

The USMNT needed a late goal from Jordan Pefok to advance to the Nations League final. Pefok subbed on in the 78th minute, scoring in the 89th. The win comes in the first game that counts the USMNT played since the November 2019 international window. They advance to face the winner of Mexico vs Costa Rica in Sunday’s final.

Honduras put on a strong showing against the United States. Josh Sargent headed the ball off of the line in the 27th minute to keep the game scoreless. Honduras seemed content to let time run out late, before Pefok changed the game with his header.

We need to score our goals,” USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna told CBS Sports Network. “I missed too many chances. I think we had a few too many chances we missed. I think I missed too many chances and I should’ve scored a few. We’ll be ready for the final.”
